SUBSTRATE / MATERIAL MANAGER
Substrate material manager allow to input dispersions and absorptions behavior of materials that can be later used to define layers, and then, a substrate. The new substrate can then be chosen in Doctor Modes as a material on which the waveguide is designed at, and thus account for its dispersions and absorptions properties.
There are total of 5 independent layers that can have different material dispersion and absorption behavior: Clad, Guide, Slab (or Gap), Guide 2 and Bulk. Layers information can be saved, loaded, copied and pasted. Absorption is handled by either the absorption coefficient, α, or by the extinction coefficient, k.
Substrate materail manager provide the ability to create a database of materials behavior that can be used for simulations.
Star Photonics adds new materials from time to time that can be available to users via software updates or through the website.
